TCDSU President Jenny Maguire (née Craig) and her Welfare and Equality Officer Hamza Bana are on the chopping block this week as an April 6th petition to censure circled Trinity College.
Such harsh criticism begs the question: what is their crime? A sexual assault awareness event! Said event drew ire from the student body as Trans Queen Jenny and her SU consorts took to campus for a beating of mock effigies representing rapists.
In a further display of faux support for sexual assault victims, Maguire and her team stuck the accounts of survivors to the Junior Dean’s door in a scene reminiscent of Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to Wittenberg’s Castle Church door.
Far from a Reformation, Jenny’s actions appear to have backfired in spectacular fashion, as she now faces censure, in part due to outrage that the SU’s stunt at the Junior Dean’s office was done without the consent of those victims whose accounts were published!
President-elect of the Union, Seán Thim O’Leary, was previously assured by the current sabbatical team that this protest would not go forward; betrayed by Jenny in a resounding display of machiavellian subterfuge, O’Leary has thrown his weight behind the petition full-heartedly. Class Representative Imogen Forrest even accused the Union officers involved of “subversion” for their evasion of SU procedure.
Though her trans-branding of the Union is certainly a unique personal flare, Jenny is not the only despot to walk the halls of House 6. Jenny’s predecessor László Molnárfi was recommended by the Union’s Oversight Commission to be censured as a result of his flagrant disregard for the constitution.
As of April 6, 23 of the 50 required Council members had signed the petition to hold an extraordinary union meeting, at which Jenny & Co. would be censured.
