The European Council pledged to defend the rights of indigenous peoples in an Arabic-language statement published Thursday. The press release labels native populations “among the world’s most marginalised communities.”
The document was published in English, with an Arabic translation. As a result of increased immigration, Arabic has become the most widely spoken foreign language in Europe, according to NordicTrans.
Absent from the document is any recognition of the indigenous peoples of Europe and their homelands which have experienced mass flows of migration from non-European countries.
The European Union claims to defend the rights of indigenous peoples, but seems intent on only doing so beyond its borders. Inside the EU, minority and immigrant groups are granted special rights and privileges not provided to native citizens.
British police have been accused of two-tier policing which favours ethnic minorities by holding them to looser criminal standards than the general population.
The failure of the British government to prevent mass-immigration into the country, in addition to two-tier policing, has incentivised criminal behaviour and the formation of gangs.
